Milwaukee Metal Products is positioning to provide antimicrobial products for all the above applications. Kleen Aide products made from CuVerroTMV antimicrobial materials can enhance and supplement standard infection control practices, but they are not a substitute for them; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces. Kleen Aide products made from CuVerroTMV antimicrobial materials have been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but they do not necessarily prevent cross contamination. *Testing demonstrates antimicrobial efficacy against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli 0157:H7, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the "superbug" Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) SUPPLYING QUALITY METAL FABRICATIONS FOR OVER A CENTURYRESEARCH: CuVerroTMV antimicrobial materials are copper alloys. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has registered over 280 copper alloys, including copper-nickel, brass and bronze with public health claims. Under EPA guidelines a public health claim relates to the control of organisms that pose a threat to human health and must be supported by scientific data. No other solid material can make public health claims. Testing was performed according to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards. GLP helps assure regulatory authorities that the data submitted are a true reflection of the results obtained during the study and can therefore be relied upon when making risk/safety assessments. These tests results show copper alloy products have the ability to kill common disease-causing bacteria* within two hours of contact time, and allows registered suppliers to market these products with the claim that copper will kill 99.9% of bacteria within two hours, when used in accordance with the label. Healthcare Infections: In recent years, National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the news media have repeatedly sounded alarms over infections contracted in hospitals, in other healthcare facilities, and in public places like schools, health clubs and spas. Widely publicized statistics from the CDC estimate infections acquired in U.S. hospitals and other healthcare facilities affect two million individuals every year and result in nearly 100,000 deaths annually, and every year the rate continues to climb! According to the Chicago Tribune report, deaths linked to hospital infections represent the fourth leading cause of death among Americans, behind heart disease, cancer, and strokes. The use of copper alloys for frequently touched surfaces, as a supplement to existing CDC prescribed hand-washing and disinfection regimen, has far-reaching implications.
